“Darling” was the first song we worked up as a duo. It came to us through the recordings of Addie Graham, who likely learned it from the workers who built the O&K railroad line that ran past her childhood home in Kentucky. According to her grandson, Rich Kirby, Graham “grew up in a culture where music was as natural as talk.” Graham learned her diverse repertoire from the people around her in Breathitt and Wolfe counties, including her mother’s British Isles ballads and the style of local musicians like Black banjo player Grant Reed.

Great choice of music, expertly played and sung. Nicely produced. I hope to see The Onlies live, asap. This is an album I listen to over and over. Karamogo

I listen to this when I need music to lift my spirits. This whole album does that. This track is the very best but it all works. Keep doing what you do. oldbanjo61
